7 APPS FOR A HEALTHIER LIFE

7 APPS FOR A HEALTHIER LIFE

We're always looking for simple ways to improve our lives. Whether cutting soda, developing a meditation practice, or spending a little less, applications are a great place to be a beginner.

In 2019, we have access to more than 2 million apps. A big chunk of those were developed by companies that want to help us live happier, be calmer, and understand our habits. Biohack your human nature with these 7 apps we're loving right now.

TO SAVE MONEY (& BE HAPPIER) - Joy

On a basic level, Joy is an app that helps track finances and find a savings strategy. However, it does so much more than tally digits. Joy, as the name indicates, is all about boosting happiness and wellbeing. By connecting your spending to your mood, Joy will suggest how to cut back without feeling deprived. For example: other financial experts may say to stop buying coffee. Joy may track that your am cold brew makes you feel happy, whereas the burrito in the afternoon doesn't. Joy will say ditch the burrito and keep the coffee. Rate items you spend on for clear, actionable data.

TO CARE FOR YOURSELF - Aloe Bud

If you had a Tamagotchi growing up, you'll love Aloe Bud. Simple with an old-school 80s/90s design (just see the graphics), this app is a self-care tracker that lives in your pocket. With categories like Hydrate, Fuel, Break, Breathe, and People, Aloe Bud allows you to see where you need to devote your energy for a happier overall self. Gently get reminders of self-care activities.

TO START MEDITATING - Headspace

Easy instructional videos, timed meditation sessions, and dozens of focused courses makes the Headspace app our favorite tool to start meditation. The structure is guided but allows for the user to freely pick their own programs and practice. From 2-minute daily prompts to entire packages on coping with anxiety or depression, there's something for everyone. (Even sessions for athletes!)

TO GIVE BACK - RoundUp

By rounding up a few mere pennies on your coffee purchases for the month, you could be making a huge difference for someone in need. Donate your spare e-change with RoundUp. Choose your favorite non-profit, link your debit and credit cards, and make a difference every day. Giving back is one way to feel better every day (while staying in budget).

TO EAT BETTER - Fooducate

Any app with a 4.7 rating averaged from 42.4k reviews must be doing something right. Fooducate is an education and tracking tool that supports healthier eating by cutting through the bull of food labels. Understand what goes into the food you're eating, track your intake, and get real, simple insights. An average food grade will tell you how healthy your nutrition is, all the way down to macro nutrients. Because eating healthy can be easier.

TO HYDRATE - My Water Balance

A clean interface with simple navigation makes My Water Balance the perfect app for staying hydrated throughout the day. Which most hydration apps focus only on water, My Water Balance allows you to input coffee, tea, smoothies, yogurt, and even sodas (along with water). Get a personalized water requirement and motivational awards along the way.
